"It kills you to see them grow up.

But I guess it would kill you quicker if they didn't."  ~Barbara Kingsolver

Parent.org doesn't provide services to parents, but there are many outstanding organisations that do.  We'd like to be able to build this page into an authoritative guide to parenting services in New Zealand.  If you would like your group listed here please get in touch with the link and a short description of what you do.

these are sorted alphabetically - simple click on the logos to follow the links

Child Youth and Family.  The government agency mandated to care for families.  While Parent.org highlights them as the greatest symbol of our failure to give parents the skills they need to succeed, there is no question that we need them, or that they do a difficult job well.  If you are really struggling head to them.

epochEpoch  (End Physical Punishment Of Children).  This dedicated group is proving that effective lobbying is possible having got government action around educating parents on non violent child rearing.  They are not too far off achieving their ultimate goal of repealing section 59 - once that is done they will probably all have to join Parent.org to keep themselves occupied.

families commissionThe Families Commission is a new government agency mandated to get some understanding around the family environment. They are definitely a step in the right direction and a group who we will have a lot of common interests with.

Father and childThis group is breaking new ground, leading the understanding in the importance of fathers in the raising of children, and working to address fathers needs.  This group is not one of the many groups spawned by frustration with the family courts system.

Parents as partnersThis is a single issue lobby group.  They want to see parents regarded as partners in the same way that a partner in a business is and want the concept of income splitting introduced to both validate the role of full time parent and acknowledge the cost of raising children.  We're all for the contribution that parents make to be recognised through the tax system.
